Global Cellular for IoT
The next generation of cellular networks offer new low power communications technologies which are available in the form of NB-IoT or LTE-M depending of your region. These new cellular technologies will allow for global support for LPWAN communications using existing infrastructure. Many regions now support cellular LPWAN, making Ironlink-LTE a great option for many regions.
All IronLink products offer comprehensive peripherals including I2C, SPI, UART and Analog inputs. A GPS module is integrated to allow easy tracking and time synchronisation.
With integrated NB-IoT and LTE-M the Ironlink-LTE has global support to reduce complexity when deploying tracking and sensor solutions.

Is LTE-M or NB-IoT suitable for my project
Both LTE-M and NB-IoT are extensions of cellular technologies that we see in 3G, 4G and 5G networks. Although the focus on these new communications systems is not to increase data rates but rather produces a robust and very low power communications system for IoT devices. Although LTE-M and NB-IoT deployment vary by regions and availability of the network will depend on your cellular provider and nation.
What regions can I use IronLink-LTE
The modem is designed for global use and should work with both LTE-M and NB-IoT networks. Specifically, any region with networks that support CAT-M1 or CAT-NB1 cell technology will work with the IronLink-LTE. Although many regions have not deployed LPWAN technology so ensure to check with your provider before deployment.
What data rates can the IronLink-LTE achieve?
Generally, cellular LPWAN has fairly high data rates to IoT devices offering both uplink and downlink at 375Kbps. This is a higher rate than most LoRaWAN networks and is particularly useful for devices that require regular downlink or firmware updates.
Is a SIM card required?
With 10 years Free Data Included our embedded SIM will cover your needs but if you prefer your own SIM any standard cellular networks micro SIM card will work.
Do I need LTE-M or NB-IoT
If your applications required a regular uplink or downlink for small data packets then cellular LPWAN may be suitable for your project. Although for applications that need to transmit large volumes of data such as video the limited data rate of 375Kbps will likely be unsuitable.
