Embedded SIM Card
The Ironlink LTE comes with an Embedded SIM card that has a free 500MB of data that lasts for 10 years.
Integrated Global Data
What is an Embedded SIM?
Our embedded SIM card works just like any other SIM but is integrated into the device and works out of the box. We include 500 MB of global data that lasts for up to 10 years as standard with every IronLink LTE board. With an embedded SIM there is no need to worry about SIM card mechanical failure or managing data contracts. Furthermore as our data lasts for up to 10 years there is no need for a monthly rolling contract that can cost more then the device itself.
With excellent global coverage the IronLink LTE can operate in most of the world providing an excellent solution for users looking for long term IoT solutions. Our embedded SIM’s data is designed to last the lifespan of the device making fleet management easier than ever. Furthermore we offer addition data that can be purchased from our store if more than 500 MB of data is required, this data will also last the lifespan of the device(>10 years). The IronLink LTE also has a dedicated SIM card slot should you wish to use your own cellular data provider.
Does the eSIM work out of the box?
Yes, the embedded SIM card is pre-activated and has 500MB of data that will last for up to 10 years. As of such the IronLink is ready to transmit data as soon as it is powered up.
Can I have more then 500MB of data?
All IronLink LTE devices have 500 MB of data included for free. However, we can provide data upgrades for individual devices or increase data on a fleet wide basis. However, for most IoT applications 500 MB should provide more than enough data for the lifespan of the device.
Are SMS messages included with the eSIM?
We include 250 SMS messages with the embedded SIM, although we recommend using SMS for debug and maintenance purposes as they are less energy efficient than using NB-IoT or CAT-M1 for data transmission.
Do I have to use the embedded SIM?
We provide the eSIM to make fleet management cheaper and reduce overheads, but use of the eSIM is not mandatory. We provide a micro SIM connector on the back of the board so you may use any provider of cellular data.
Can I use the eSIM and an external SIM card?
Absolutely, the eSIM and regular sim card are connected to a multiplexer and can be easily switched in software. The eSIM is generally more rugged than a standard SIM card and makes an great backup in the case of a failure.
